A compact 400 square foot addition and 200 square foot renovation to contain back-of-house functions in an intensely front-of-house area for the tasting salon at the Domaine Chandon winery in Yountville, CA.  The addition aims to hide in plain sight, containing a hive of activity but presenting an austere facade.

The program brief required that we house a 150-case walk-in refrigerator, glass washing, polishing and storage facilities, a food prep area and an administrative office for two employees.  The addition is centrally located on the winery grounds, directly on the path of tour groups and large group wine tastings occur on the adjacent lawn.
